The Hobbitron Chronicles
A downloadable game
’The Hobbitron Chronicles’ (aka 'Adventure 3 Remake') is a game written with Scala MM400, and it's a point and click version of the text adventure 'Adventure 3'.
You need Scala Player (or Scala) to play this game. Scala Player is NOT freely redistributable and therefor NOT included.
The game is inspired by The Hobbit (the text adventure), Leisure Suit Larry, Police Quest, Space Quest and Mission Impossible. To complete the game, you must find three magical rings and destroy them. Each ring is hidden in a different time period. One is hidden in the past (The Hobbit), one is hidden in the present (Leisure Suit Larry) and the last one is hidden in the future (Space Quest). Find them all and destroy them.
How to play
It's a point and click game, you just point... and click. Unlike any Sierra game from the 90s you can't die in the game. There are no dead ends either.
Graphics
The in-game graphics are inspired by some games I've played a lot, like The Hobbit on the Sinclair ZX Spectrum. There are versions with better graphics but for me the version on the Spectrum is the inspiration. Moving forward a few years and Leisure Suit Larry in the land of the lounge lizards and Space Quest - The Sarien Encounter, on the Amiga, are two games that are close to my heart.
Music
No in-game music yet, so my suggestion is to play the following tracks when you play the game (links to YouTube):
- Plaza: Mission Impossible theme
- Past: The Hobbit theme
- Present: Leisure Suit Larry 1 theme
- Future: Space Quest 1 theme
- City: Police Quest 1 theme

Requirements
An Amiga (real or emulated) running AmigaOS 3.x is needed. The game is written using Scala MM400 and it requires a copy of Scala or Scala Player to run (not included). If you are using Scala MM300 (v50.2) then use the included compatibility file. The compatibility version has some minor graphic glitches but it plays fine.
Both versions should run on almost any Amiga with at least 4 MB RAM (more is better), a minimum resolution of 640*256 (with at least 16 colours) , AmigaOS 3.x and Scala MM300/MM400.
Installation
Unpack the files to any location. Add the assign below from CLI (or add it to your startup file):
Assign: thc: <installation folder>
Load the script in Scala and play.
