Dark City Detective - Project Fenris

In the early 90:s I started writing a short story, a detective tale. I saved it on a floppy disk and forgot about it. Recently I found my old floppy disks and extracted all the contents from them, including that half-finished story. Last year I wrote the text adventure Adventure 1, based on that story. And this year I completed the story (based on the game that was based on the story). And now I have turned that story into interactive fiction.

Keep in mind that the base story is 30 years old and I made this IF-game when playing around with Claude.ai. So here and there the AI has filled in the gaps in the story, and I am NOT a writer so don't expect something professional. I’m only goofing around with a new tool I found.

The Story

In the aftermath of the greatest economic catastrophe since 1929, the city lies in ruins beneath perpetually gray skies. You are Nathaniel Voss, a private investigator cast out from the police force under questionable circumstances. Operating from a modest office in the city's slum district, you scrape by on small cases—until a chance encounter with a desperate journalist sets you on a collision course with a conspiracy that reaches the highest levels of power.

When Victor Crane approaches you with tales of corporate murder and human experimentation, you dismiss him as just another hustler. But when Crane turns up dead the next morning, you realize you've stumbled onto something far more dangerous than a simple case. Armed with cryptic documents and a trail of bodies, you must navigate a maze of corruption, betrayal, and corporate evil to expose a sinister plot that threatens the very soul of the city.

Every choice matters. Trust no one. The truth comes at a price.

Key Characters

Nathaniel Voss - Former police detective turned private investigator. Kicked out of the force on "false grounds," now working cases in the city's slums.

Ethan Kerr - Voss's loyal friend and investigative partner. Technology-averse but street-smart, always ready to help despite the dangers.

Victor Crane - Unemployed journalist who sells information to survive. Approaches Voss with evidence of corporate conspiracy before meeting a violent end.

Logan Pierce - Voss's former partner from police academy. Now working within a corrupt system, torn between loyalty and justice.

Will you expose the truth, or become another casualty in the fight against corporate corruption?
